WHAT YOU DO: A robotics engineer researches, designs, develops, operates and repairs robots.

EDUCATION: A robotics engineer requires extensive knowledge of engineering, computers, design, mechanics, physics, and advanced math. Robotics engineers usually have to earn at least a bachelor's degree in engineering, graduate from a program that's certified by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, and pass the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.

USEFUL SKILLS: Coordination, critical thinking, problem solving, imagination.

HOW TO GET IN: Get an internship while in college.

CAREER PATH: Focus on a subsystem of robotics (the mechanical, electrical, computing, or software system, for example) while in school and working as an intern.
