The world's largest robot trade fair got under way in Tokyo this week, as robot makers showed off what could be the future of society. More than 330 companies turned up in the Japanese capital for the International Robot Exhibition (iREX). There were some hi-tech toys on display, but most of the exhibitors were serious designers, unveiling robots that might be able to help in the healthcare, services and manufacturing sectors in the future.
Inventors from Tokyo University of Science brought in their robotic muscle suit, which they hope factories and care homes will turn to as Japan's demographic shifts towards the elderly.
