The Polish Ministry of Defence signed a research and development phase contract for a prototype W-3PL (Guszec) helicopter, a modernised version of the Armys existing helicopter.
The multi-role W-3PL Guszec draws on knowledge gained from the Polish Air Brigades experiences on combat missions in Iraq. An in-depth modernization of all the helicopters systems was implemented to enhance its capabilities for a range of missions including troop transport, combat search and rescue (CSAR) and armed attack of ground targets.
Ten fully equipped troops can be transported by the W-3PL on folding seats in utility configuration with the troop commander position equipped with an MFD.
