NASA | The Power of Two: How Humans and Robots Explore Space
The video starts at 04:26. From robotic scouting missions, to space station construction, to opening the planetary frontiers, there has been a growing relationship between robots and humans. The first robotic scouts to the Moon answered key science and engineering questions, paving the path for the Apollo landings. Now Mars is under the robotic magnifying glass, both from orbit and from its surface.

Keeping Mars rovers rolling

Keeping Mars rovers rolling
Mobility is a vital part of a rover's mission on the surface of Mars. The ability to travel across the terrain without becoming stuck is a problem researchers have been trying to solve for some time. Now, a team from MIT's Robotic Mobility Group, Washington University in St. Louis and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., has developed a model called Artemis that accurately simulates rover mobility over various types of soil and terrain.

Soft-Bodied Robot Fish Can Swim Like the Real Thing

Soft-Bodied Robot Fish Can Swim Like the Real Thing
More science news and info at: http://www.coconutsciencelab.com - in the first issue of the journal, 'Soft Robotics,' MIT researchers report on their new self-contained, autonomous, soft robotic "fish."

Each side of the fish's tail has a long channel bored through it. Carbon dioxide gas from a canister in the fish's abdomen causes the channel to inflate, bending the tail in the opposite direction.

The robotic fish was built by Andrew Marchese, a graduate student in MIT's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

Please rate and comment, thanks!

Autonomous, self-contained soft robotic fish at MIT

Autonomous, self-contained soft robotic fish at MIT
Soft robots which don't just have soft exteriors but are also powered by fluid flowing through flexible channels have become a sufficiently popular research topic that they now have their own journal, Soft Robotics. In the first issue of that journal, out this month, MIT researchers report the first self-contained autonomous soft robot, a "fish" that can execute an escape maneuver, convulsing its body to change direction, in just 100 milliseconds, or as quickly as a real fish can.

"We're excited about soft robots for a variety of reasons," says Daniela Rus, a professor of computer science and engineering, director of MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, and one of the researchers who designed and built the fish.

Review of the Hubsan x4 H107C quadcopter with 2MP camera
This is a short video review of the Hubsan x4 H107C quadcopter. I uploaded this video at the request of several people after they saw some of my aerial video uploads. I'm far from a professional aerial photographer or quadcopter pilot, but I do have quite a bit of fun with these little quads. These have spurred enough interest that I have decided to move up the quadcopter "ladder" and purchase a DJI Phantom.

FPV Quadcopter Awesome River Crash and Scuba Diver Rescue
After a full days flying I was presented with this weir which I just could not turn down a flight around.

I managed to have a full flight before my accident happened, it was purely down to pilot error as I did not have enough battery power left to counter act the momentum of my decent and by the time I realised I needed full throttle I was already in the water.

Lee and I spent almost an hour in this dirty water searching for the Quadcopter, we could hear it beeping under the water but could not find the direction it was in.
